The Grand Valley consists of various landscapes and weather conditions. With these various environments comes a higher chance to run into unknown circumstances, such as being stranded, injury, exposure, wild animals, loss of direction, etc. To cover as many incidents as we can, we have 13 specialized teams on call. These teams are highly trained to effectively combine their expertise and more effectively locate and rescue those in need. See a brief description of each team below.

Our Teams

COMMUNICATIONS TEAM

The Comm. Team provides technical staffing for all communications and organizes communication to teams at incident command during call-outs.

TECHNICAL RESCUE TEAM

The Technical Rescue Team are our heroes when it comes to climbing skills and high-angle rescue. When the ground comes to an end and the edges are steep, they have what it takes to go over.

K-9

Our K9 teams work side-by-side with the ground team when there are needs beyond the capabilities of our human members. The K9 team gives a different sense and perspective to the search, ensuring a higher probability of rescue.

ATV

The ATV Team is a group of citizens ready for the challenges of covering more ground than we can on foot, and do it quickly. Many rescues happen off of ATV trails, so their skills and equipment go a long way, literally.

The Snowskipper Team is a group of citizens committed to supporting our ground team in the harshest of winter conditions. Utilizing their knowledge of winter landscapes and their equipment, they can support beyond the snowshoe track.

SHERRIF’S POSSE

Similar to our K9 team, the Sherriff’s Posse horses and riders allow for a different perspective on the ground search, as well as cover lots of ground.
